
Hello, I’m Lalie - nutrition advisor, health coach, biohacker and all-round wellness enthusiast. I am here for the African (is this too polarising?) woman who wants to feel good and fully alive, to enjoy her body, to have a clear mind and boundless energy, to reclaim her life and purpose. Here’s the thing, when you feel well, and are truly well, you can be fully present in your life. When you are not being tripped up by ill health, your energy and attention are able to be redirected to pursue and fulfil what you want out of life, to go after your higher goals.
There’s a not so minor problem though.
Every day you, dear sister, are bombarded with messages of this person or that product that is promising you the world. But the messages are so contradictory, they leave your head spinning. Low fat! Low carb! Paleo! Plant-based! Running! Resistance Training! Smoothies! Saturated fat! No wonder you feel like giving up before you even start. But, hold on, help is on the way.
And let’s talk about what being health means to you, outside of popular culture labels. I’m willing to bet that for many of us women, health may be spelled E-N-E-R-G-Y. With all the demands we have on our lives, to feel healthy is to feel like we have the energy, liveliness and vibrancy to take on life’s challenges and not be wiped out in the first round. As things stand however, you find yourself battling to get up in the morning; you cannot function without the morning coffee. You trudge through the day, but the afternoon slump is too strong, and you simply must reach for that snack (or even another cup of the brew). Things don’t have to be this way, though. You don’t have to accept this unceremonious loadshedding as part of your life. There is a way for your body to keep the lights on and function optimally, as the best version of yourself!
Yes, it’s possible! I suffered from sleeplessness, fatigue, lethargy, anxiety, digestive troubles etc. It felt like I was living in a hole I could not escape from. The conventional health advice out there was no help. Thankfully, I kept searching and wasn’t willing to settle for band-aid solutions. It has not been easy, but I’m happy to tell you that after much trial and error and significant lifestyle changes, I am now on a trajectory where my body and mind are finding health, happiness and peace.
